LLM Idolatrine: Why no one wants your agentic PRs

I promise this blog will have more than an engineer yelling at the clouds about LLM pain. I was actually working on a retrospective on X-Men Legends, or my experiences building an NES emulator in Rust. However slop PRs started hitting a codebase I maintain at work. And like any healthy individual I wish to commiserate about this with others on the internet.

I’d like to think I have some ability for introspection. Is it me that’s the problem? Am I just not with it anymore?
It’s one thing to see the spam come in and go “man this sucks”. But it’s another thing to have to explain to misguided individuals why their behavior is destructive. This is my attempt at delving into the “why”.
Why do these slop PRs bother me so much? Why do they feel like such a drain?

The Grimdark Future that is Generative AI

Like every well-adjusted middle-aged man, I’ve taken a recent interest in Warhammer 40k. There’s something about painting dystopian nightmares that is ever so soothing. And while it’s not a cheap hobby the price is much less than a mid-life crisis car. Much to the joy of my wife.

My faction of choice is the Adeptus Mechanicus. I find it hilarious to mix technology and science with a cult like fervor. Working complex machines with the disciplines of a hardcore religion. Memorizing rituals to work machines. Burning incense to appease the machine spirit.
Speaking a special language that lets them interface with the machines faster. Their depiction has changed throughout the years where they’ve been either the top scientists or they’re a cargo cult that doesn’t actually understand what they’re doing, they just pray and follow dogma and hope the machine does whats intended.
